83543- VMSB-343 Lost in flight from Laichou Tsingtao to Teinstain China when it flew into Ta Te mountain at 12,000 feet on 08 Dec 1945. Since accident occurred in Communist held territory, no investigation party went to the scene; Apparently entire flight consisting of BuNo 83271,83327,83340,83364, 83468 and 83543 hit the mountain.

According to a Muster Roll for VMSB 343 MAG 32 and an Interment record, Sgt Stacy John Hammell (service # 436381) was part of the group of men who died when their planes crashed at Ta Te mountain on 8 Dec 1945.
