Joseph E Barrick Sr was born on 17 April, 1871, in Kansas, to Charles Monroe and Selina Cash Barrick, the fifth of seven known children. He married Mary Catherine Guthery, daughter of Nathaniel Hagan and Sarah Jane Holt Guthery, on 14 November, 1896, in Beef Creek, now named Maysville, Indian Territory (Garvin County), Oklahoma. To this union four known children were born: Grace M in November 1897 (married Lew Ware); Joseph E Barrick Jr in August 1900 (married Ethel E Lewis); Mamie E in January 1903 (married Warren Edwards); and Earl L in October 1904 (married Madge P Butler). Sometime after 1920 Joe and Mary Catherine divorced, for during that time frame he married a 'Marie' (Amanda Parks Boydston) who had a son Billy Boydston, and Joe and 'Marie' had a daughter Betty. Joseph Sr died 16 October 1960 and is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley, Garvin County, Oklahoma.
