Charles L. "Chuck" Henry, 72, of Anderson passed away on August 4, 2011 at St. John's Hospital surrounded by his beloved family and friends. He lost his valiant, courageous battle with cancer after an illness of 8 months.

Chuck was born on February 1, 1939 in Alexandria, the son of Dorothy Lucille (Campbell) and Harry Lee Henry.

He was raised in Alexandria graduating from Alexandria High School in 1957. During his years at Alexandria High, he was popular and was always involved in music. He was in the choir being the soloist many times during the musical productions. This was a great love and enjoyment for him. Curt Warren stated "Chuck had a beautiful baritone voice and was always "top notch".

During his senior year of high school, he was the news editor for the "Tiger's Tale" the school newspaper, and also the chairman of the Co-Op club.

Chuck was a hard working, diligent person striving to take care of his family.

Early in his working career he was a contract painter working for many of the local contractors; such as Russell Byrum, Bob Taylor, Harley Campbell, Lyman Jackson, and many more. He also did finish carpentry for new home construction.

He went to Delco Remy and became a member of Plant Security and was selected to be the "locksmith" for all of the Delco Remy plants throughout the United States. He was very proud of this particular part of his life. He retired from Delco Remy in 1999 after 30 years of employment.

Chuck became involved in Square and Round Dancing. In 1980 he attended Round Dance School at Turkey Run State Park to become a round dance leader. Round dancing and square was a continuing part of his life until passing. He loved to round dance and was a superb dancer. It gave him great joy to be able to teach new dancers the art of round dancing.

Aside from his square/round dancing he loved to fish, spending many days fishing with his friend Elmer McFarland and Tom Tharp. He was a member of Round-a-Lab, lifetime member of Indiana Dancers Association, and president of Footloose Square Dance Club. He was the Publicity Chairman and Facilities Chairman for the Indiana Square Dance Convention. His final achievement was being asked to be General Chairman of the 22nd Indiana Square Dance Convention for 2011.

On July 4, 2011 Chuck married his best friend and love, Nadine in a beautiful wedding ceremony surrounded by 250 of his dear friends. He was a beautiful person who never met a stranger. Chuck was known for his sincere kindness, his beautiful spirit, and his intense love of his fellow man. His kind blue eyes and infectious smile will stay in the hearts of his family and friends from this day forward.

Many thanks to Dr. Brian Eddy, Dr. Salah Elsaharty, Dr. James Currier and their staff for such care and consideration to his valiant fight. To the nursing staff of the 6th floor at St. John's Hospital, thank you for caring for him so diligently and lovingly. We shall be forever grateful.
