J.R. Bond, Industrialist, Dies of Heart Attack
Suffers Stroke At Pendennis . J. Roy Bond, 62, sportsman, industrialist and first vice president of Bond Brothers, a plant specializing in railroad ties and creosoting, died at 5 p.m. yesterday at Norton Memorial Infirmary after he had suffered a heart attack at 4:10 p.m. at the Pendennis Club. He had been playing bridge with friends an hour before he was stricken. Mr. Bond, a native of Caneyville, Ky., had made his home in Elizabethtown, Ky., for the last thirty-five years. He maintained an apartment at the Brown Hotel, commuting to Elizabethtown on week-ends. Was U. L. Graduate. Active in the Sportsmen's Club, he was a former officer of both the Pendennis Club and the Louisville Country Club. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville and later took courses toward a degree in law. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Elizabethtown. He was a co-foun- der of the tie firm. Previously Mr. Bond and his brothers had been timber buyers. Almost two years ago Mr. Bond was honored at a celebration on the fifteenth anniversary of the establishment of Bond Brothers golf course, one of the many recreational features for employees of the company. The nine-hole course was opened in 1924. Mr. Bond is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie Bond; three daughters, Miss Elizabeth Bond, Miss Louise Bond and Miss Sudie Bond; a son, Allen M. Bond; his mother, Mrs. Amanda Bond; two brothers, G. W. Bond and O. S. Bond, and a sister, Mrs. Sudie Stuart. Funeral services will be held at Elizabethtown.
