The place of birth and proof that I found for Marie Ola Wilmeth Hughes, came from her U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index. This is something new that has been added in the last few years. This is the information that is listed on their social records from the time they applied until their death. Also they would have had to had some kind of proof for the information they gave.

Her brother was born two years later and that is what is also on his records.

I will say that even though the ssidi record does have Choctaw County, that in fathers WW I Draft record it stated he was living in Spencerville, Pushmataha County. Are you familiar with OK enough to know if there was indeed a Spencerville, in Pushmataha County? Also her grandmother Ida Edith Self Wilmeth is buried in Spencerville, Choctaw, Oklahoma.

I know the families came from Texas to OK, lived in the areas of Indian Territory, Lone Grove, Chickasaw Nation IT (1900 cen), Carter (Ardmore) , Pushmataha (Antlers), and Hughes, counties. I am not sure exactly where Marie’s father died as he died in 1920, and I assume OK, and possibly in Pushmataha County, as he was there in 1917 for the WW I Draft reg. and in 1920 cen. Cora and children were living with her in laws in Kiamichi, Pushmataha, Oklahoma. I also knew that Cora remarried a Baker but could not find her until now. More and better records. LOL

I do want all of these records to be as correct as possible for future generations, but I am not going to split hairs on this one. But I do know that obituaries and death certificates are only as good as the person giving the information. Maria’s grandfather is my 1/2 line, as he is my 2nd Great Grandmothers son by her first husband. Later generations called them Aunt and Uncle. She and her first husband only had two children before he was killed in the Civil War.
