Dr. Theodore "Ted" Aaker, 93, formerly of Gaylord, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000 at the St. Francis Hospital, Shakopee.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is one hour before services at the church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord.

He is survived by daughters, Janet and husband, George Stevens of Bloomington, and Karen and husband David Minge, of Montevideo; sons, Steven and wife Janine Aaker of New Market, and Douglas Aaker of St. Cloud; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Nielsen and husband, Bjorne of Coon Rapids; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, five brothers and a sister.

He was born Feb. 16, 1907, in Minnewaukan, N.D., to Ole S. and Marie (Jeglum) Aaker. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead. His dental training was completed in 1933 at the University of Minnesota Dental School. He began his dental practice in Gaylord in 1933 and continued to practice until 1982.

He married Arleen Langhoff on June 26, 1937, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. She died in 1998. In October 1998, he moved to Bloomington to live with his daughter.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was finance secretary. He served on the Gaylord Public School Board, was president of the Community Hospital Board, served as president of the Gaylord Community Club, and was president and secretary of the Gaylord Rotary Club. He served as a Cub Scout leader, scoutmaster and a member of the Minnesota Valley Boy Scout Council, where he was honored with a Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of an Over 60 Band and flew an airplane outside Gaylord.
