The Death of Byron Dunn at Rock Island, Illinois

Byron Fred Dunn was born near Memphis, Missouri, June 3rd, 1896. Died at Rock Island, Illinois, June 21st, 1917, aged 21 years and 18 days.

He united with the Christian Church at Salem, October 9th, 1906. And was always in attendance when convenient. Enlisted at Kirksville April 28th, 1917 and was transferred to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, April 30, was sworn in and received his uniform and then transferred to his company. The 18th Infantry, Company B, Fort Donaldson, Arizona.

He was the youngest son of Peter and Charity A. Dunn. The mother preceded him to the Better Home on November 6th, 1905 at Yarington, Nevada, two brothers also preceded him, 2 infant brothers also preceded him in death. The father and four brothers are left to mourn the loss of the young son and brother. His brothers are Sanford J. of Los Angeles, California; Asa G. of Fort Churchill, Nevada; Edgar L. and Elva L. of Yarington, Nevada.

Funeral services were conducted from the Union Church at 3 p.m. Sunday June 24th, 1917, by Rev. F. D. Holloway of Milton, Iowa. The large and sympathetic audience was an evidence of the esteem in which he was held.
