Mrs. Ricks was born July 5, 1927 in the Moffett Community, Angelina County, Texas to the late Amby (Freeland) and Samuel Ross Hough, and died Saturday, August 6, 2011 in a local hospital. She was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and was employed at Weiners for more than 20 years. Mrs. Ricks enjoyed and was very accomplished in embroidery. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Steve Collins of Lufkin and Andra and Eddie Jay of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Sheila Ricks and Charles and Cyndi Ricks, all of Lufkin; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and eagerly awaiting her 13th great-grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Garland Ray and Nealan Ray, both of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Sandra Hough of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Mary Ricks of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ricks was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Glenn Ricks in 2003; daughter, Suzette Rocinda Ricks; grandchildren, Risti Collins and William Collins; three brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Collins II, Eric Jay, Raymond Jay, Kelly Collins, Chris Ricks and SSgt. Michael Ricks.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. S.R. Karnati and his office staff, Dr. Ahsan Khan, and the staffs of the Woodland Heights Cardiopulmonary Unit, Cath Lab and ICU.
