Noah D. "Jim" Greathouse, 74, passed away suddenly, at 2:47 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 in Cox Medical Center South.

He was born August, 20, 1936, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of the late, Fred and Ethel (Stafford) Greathouse. He was united in marriage on December 22, 1959 in Bettendorf, Iowa to Eleanor L. Fleck. He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a truck driver with CXI for many years before officially retiring in 2009. He was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon and Greeter since 1981 and was very active in the AWANA Children's Ministry. He was devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor; a son, Phil Greathouse and wife Aleta, two granddaughters, Emma and Tessa Greathouse, all of Joplin; a brother-in-law, L. Pete Fleck and wife Judy, Lake Havasu City, AZ; two nephews, Dennis Melton and wife Linda, St. Louis; Mike Melton and wife Janet, Copperras Cove, TX; three nieces, Linda Kay Burnett and husband Hank, Cape Girardeau; Rebecca Hall, Burbank, CA; Rachel Beard and husband Rusty, Lewisville, TX; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Harmony Baptist Church, Rogersville. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
