He was killed in action in Wardak Province, eastern Afghanistan. He graduated from Trinity Catholic High School, Stamford, CT, and Norwich University, Norwich, VT, with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. In June, 2001 he enlisted in the US Navy to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a Navy SEAL. After Basic Training in Great Lakes, IL, he attended Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training in Coronado, CA. In 2003 he was designated as a SEAL and assigned to an east coast SEAL Team based in Virginia Beach, VA. Among his military awards and decorations were the Bronze Star Medal with Valor [3]; Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal; Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal; Combat Action Ribbon [2]; and Good Conduct Medal [3].
He was survived by his father; his mother and step-father; his grandmother; two brothers; four sisters; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces.
Interment on August 26, 2011.
