He was born in Stangelville, Wisconsin on June 23, 1903 to Frank and Elizabeth Konop Mazanet.
After completing high school, he moved to Chicago, IL, where he married Lena Menze in April 1927.
He built and operated Mazanet Stoker Service, servicing coal furnace machinery. His wife preceded him in death in February 1964.
He married Anne Gubbins in April 1968. They moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. She preceded him in death in 1991.
He moved to Newport during Christmas of 1998.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newport, where he served as church usher. He also was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed fixing things for other people, dancing, walking on the beach and golfing.
Survivors include his daughters, Betty J. Hanus of Newport and Judith A. Carnaghi of Moody, Texas; a brother, Frank Mazanet of Madison, Wisconsin; sisters Ada Lawrence of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Babe Krause of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Edward Mazanet, in November 1994, and a brother, Fred Mazanet, in December 1994.
Private memorial Mass will be held August 3, at 12:10 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newport. Private inurnment will be in All Saints
