Mrs Rose May Bowles, 97, widow of Charles J Bowles, died early Sunday morning at Countryside Manor where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mrs Bowles had been ill only three weeks. She was born April 29, 1870, at St Paul, Neosho county, Kan. where she grew to womanhood. She and Mr Bowles were married in Neosho county on Nov 5, 1902.
In 1911, Mr and Mrs Bowles came to Seward county from Spearville, Kan, and in 1916 moved to a farm west of Liberal in Stevens county where they farmed until 1940 when they moved to Liberal. Mr Bowles died in 1956. Mrs Bowles was a member of St Anthony's Catholic church. She is survived by three daughters, Miss Mary Bowles of the home at 16 South Jordan, Mrs Joe Burns, Stephenville, Texas and Miss Cecelia Bowles, Oklahoma City; and one son, Tom Bowles, Phoenix, Ariz., eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from St Anthony's Catholic church. Rosary will be at 7:30 this evening from the Miller Chapel. Burial will be in the Liberal cemetery.
