A Correction

The record of evil deeds is truly going on in this world, so also is there much false representation given for truth that is not truth. for the benefit of the bereaved father and children, Mr. Thomas Creighton, whose dear wife was drowned in a well on Sept. 11 - and indeed it was a sad affair - was sent abroad by the Belleville Democrat as being wrapped in mystery and needed investigation. He can now surely rest, as we propose to give the public the truth: The well, instead of being three feet deep as was represented by the Democrat, is five feet ten inches deep, it is two feet one way by three the other, and had it three feet of water in it when she was drowned. The real mystery in this sad affair is that any one should attempt to misrepresent it to the public and thus being more grief to the desolate house, for we can think of nothing which would make a lonesome father and children feel worse.

This is from one who took the drowned woman from the well.
