LeAnn graduated from Topeka High School in 1969 and received a bachelor's degree in education from Washburn University in 1973. She participated in gymnastics in high school and in college. She had been a lifeguard at Hillcrest Pool in Topeka.
She was an assistant teacher in the Topeka Adult Education Program. She received a master's degree in vocational rehabilitation in 1984 at The University of Arizona in Tucson. She taught in a junior high school in Tecumseh, Okla., for three years.
Miss Myers, who had suffered from multiple sclerosis for 28 years, donated her body to The University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City for research.
