Hedda Wilhelmina Olofsson, name changed in the United States to Hattie Olson. Her birth was recorded in Hogstad Parish, Ostergotland, Sweden. Hattie was born October 22, 1854 the daughter of Per Gustaf Olofsson and Amanda Wilhelmina Parson.

This family of seven children and parents left Sweden on May 8, 1868 and sailed to the United States. A four year old son, Frans Oscar, died on the ship and was buried at sea. The baby of the family, Hulda Amanda, also died shortly after they arrived in Iowa.

Hattie was 14 years old when she left her native land. She married Oscar Ahlberg in Iowa on September 26, 1878. She was twenty-four years old. Five children were born to this union.

Both of Hattie's brothers left Iowa and made their homes in Colorado. The girls all remained in Iowa and married. Augusta and Hattie married brothers. They lived in Sheldahl for the rest of their lives. Clara Olson Youngberg married and lived in Des Moines. Clara died shortly after the birth of her third child due to a weak heart.

Hattie Olson Ahlberg, in time, remarried to Oscar Chader. She was buried next to Oscar Ahlberg when she died. She has only a simple stone with her first name and year dates on her grave.
