PONCA CITY, Okla. - Bessie Jane Maxfield died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 2006) in Ponca City.
She was born Aug. 5, 1922 in Lee County, Va., and was the daughter of Samuel and Ollie Coomer Deboard.
She married Paul E. Maxwell on Oct. 6, 1940 in Kentucky. He died in June, 1971 and worked at Kings Grocery in Bluff City, moving from Big Stone Gap, Va. to Ponca City, Okla., in August, 2000.
She came in this world to touch our hearts and bless our souls and now she is gone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank Deboard, Paul Ray Deboard and Richard Deboard; sisters, Charlene Caldwell, ReNee Maxfield and Dorothy Beason.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Maxfield and his wife Penny, Ponca City, Okla.; daughters, Judy Fildes, Grand Lake, Okla., Mary Macys and husband Tom, Edgewater, Fla., and Barbara Brown,k Kingsport; brother, James Deboard, Salem, Ind.; grandchildren, David Brown, Knoxville, Danny Brown, Elizabethtown, Tenn., Paul Carrier, Bland, Va., and Sherri Carrier, Tulsa, Okla.; great-grandson, Caleb Brown, Elizabethtown.
Private family inurnment services will be held in Big Stone Gap, Va.
