Mr. Bryant retired from the United States Postal Service as Assistant Postmaster in Barbourville and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville. From 1928 until 1937, he taught school in Knox County. He faithfully served in the United States Navy during World War II and loved gardening, raising flowers, walking and riding around to enjoy the local scenery.
On March 5, 1932, he united in marriage with Maude Ethel Corey in Pineville who preceded him in death on September 2, 1986. Later, on December 7, 1989, he united in marriage with Aretta Dozier Sexton in Barbourville.
Other family members to precede him in death include a daughter, Wilma Jean Bryant, six brothers and five sisters.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, May 3 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Shane Nickell officiating. Mr. Bryant will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery with military funeral honors.
Casket bearers will be Russell Pope, Wilbert Evans, Kenneth Cobb, Wayne Bryant, Bryan Gamblin and Lonny McMichael. Honorary bearers will be Clevis Carter, Dr. Charles Stargel, Rick Gamblin, Ed Boyd, Chester Bryant, Jamie Gitzsinger, Bill Lane, George Bryant, Rev. Denvil Taylor, David Ballard, Sam Cole and Dennis Gibson.
