LANDRUM, S.C. - Scott Jarvis Blazek, 50, of 10 Yorba Lane, Greer, S.C. (former Escanaba resident), passed away on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Hospice House of Carolina Foothills in Landrum, S.C., following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 13, 1961, in Escanaba and was the son of Jarvis and Margaret (Lofquist) Blazek.

Scott was a graduate of Escanaba High School and continued his education attending college.

He began his employment career with Sturgeon Bay Ship Building in Sturgeon Bay, Wis.

He then relocated to Texas and worked for Texas Instruments, moved to Florida for a brief period until finally settling down in Greer, SC and was employed with BMW for the past 16 years in Quality Inspections DSC.

Scott was a devoted father to his son Michael. They both enjoyed sports of all kinds and throughout the years while his son was involved in sports he was a coach for Little League, football, and baseball. Father and son often went fishing together, and were avid fans of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR.

Traveling home to spend time with his family was always a highlight. He especially enjoyed going to hunting camp.

Scott had a great love for writing stories and completing his first novel. He is published in the Porcupine Press with the family story called "Bucky." He was also a great "jokester" and enjoyed talking politics.

Scott is survived by: son, Michael Scott Blazek, Greer, S.C.; sisters, Dayle (Steve) Paulson, Rockton, Ill., and Judy (Jay) Owens, Escanaba; brothers, Mark (Debbie) Blazek, New London, Wis., Michael (Jan) Blazek, Clintonville, Wis., and Richard (Jean) Blazek, Bear Creek, Wis.

Scott adored his many nieces, nephews, and aunts especially his aunt Paula who provided care during his time of need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarvis and Margaret.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Scott Jarvis Blazek will follow at 1 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Judy Kincaid of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will take place in the South Ford River Cemetery.
