JAMES MCCLELLAND
STRATFORD - James McClelland, 88, Southfield Care Center, Webster City, died at the Hamilton County hospital Monday. He had resided at the center the past four years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford with the Rev. Dale Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. Friends may call at the Hanson-Stark-Welin funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at which time the body will be taken to the church.
Mr. McClelland is survived by his wife, Ida, who resides at the Southfield Care Center; one son, Orville McClelland of Lehigh; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Murray, Mrs. Bessie Ball and Mrs. Hildred Fortune and Miss Edythe McClelland, all of Lehigh; 17 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rollie (Alyce) Green of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia, April 30, 1920; by his parents; four brothers, two sisters and one daughter, Leona, who died in infancy.
He was born March 3, 1888 at West Bend, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Izak McClelland.
On April 1, 1907 he married Sylvia Grossnickle at Stratford.
He was married to Ida Hunt on Dec. 13, 1920 at Rodman, Iowa.
He was engaged in tiling work and blacksmith work in the Lehigh area for many years.
