ONDERDONK ANGEVINE.
ORANGE, N.J., May 9.—Onderdonk Angevine, once a well-known and prosperous business man of New York, died yesterday at his home, 73 Lenox Avenue, East Orange. He was born in New York, July 12, 1820, and established himself in the retail tea business in that city in 1841, and was quite successful. Subsequently he opened five large stores. He also owned large tracts of real estate, and was reputed to be worth $500,000. His venture, however, terminated during the panic of 1873, and he was never able to recover his losses. He had lived in East Orance since 1888.
Mr. Angevine joined the Seventh Regiment early in the fifties, served in the Opera House and draft riots, and was an active member until age prevented him from taking part in the drill. He was a member of the Seventh Regiment Veterans. He was married in 1851 to Eunice Esther Dunshee, who died shortly after they had celebrated their golden wedding. He is survived by two daughters, a son, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
