Betty L. Hainlen Duggan, former resident of Ralston, passed Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, in Derby, Kan. She was 80.

Betty was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Ralston, the daughter of Ben Cowan and Nina Mullin Cowan. She attended the Ralston schools.

She married Marlin Hainlen, with him preceding her in death in 1955. She later married Tim Duggan, and he also preceded her in death.

Her enjoyments included her grandchildren, word puzzles, quilting for her family, playing the domino game, Train, and in earlier years, fishing.

Betty is survived by her five children, Ray Hainlen and wife Cheryl, of Wichita, Kan., Nina Quam and husband Earl of Wichita, Kan., George Hainlen and wife Deanne of Saginaw, Texas, Bill Hainlen of Belle Plaine, Kan., and Timothy Duggan of Derby, Kan.; three brothers, Joe Cowan, Tuff Cowan and Benjie Cowan; 12 grandchildren, Daryl, David, Chris, Becky, Levi, Josh, Nick, Rainy, Nicole, Nathan, Jake and Eric; and eight great-grandchildren, Darien, Eleanor, Natalia, Isabella, Felicia, Myles, Lucy and Jaxon. Betty also has four great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers, Claude Cowan, Robert Cowan and Elmer Cowan; and one sister, Ollie Book.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home in Fairfax. Burial will follow in Ralston Riverside Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be grandsons, Daryl Hainlen, David Quam, Chris Hainlen, Levi Duggan, Josh Duggan, Nick Duggan and Darien Hainlen. Honorary casket bearers will be grandsons, Jake Hanes, Nathan Hanes, Eric Hanes and Myles Carter.
