Funeral Is Held
Here Tuesday For
Abrahm De Groot
Funeral services for Abrahm De Groot, 72, long-time resident of this vicinity who died at the Sioux Center hospital Saturday evening, were held at the First Christian Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Services were conducted by the Rev. B. J. Haan and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A brief service was held at the funeral home preceding the church service.
Mr. De Groot was born at Harrison, S. D., October 16, 1885.
He was married to Jennie Koel January 4, 1912.
Survivors include his widow of Sioux Center; four sons, Henry of Jenison, Mich., Cornie of Ireton; John of George and Abrahm, Jr., of Sheldon; six daughters, Jacoba, Mrs. Albert De Weerd of Pipestone, Minn., Anna, Mrs. Richard H. Kroon of Sioux Center; Marie, Mrs. William De Weerd of Sheldon; Lena, Mrs. Ben Fedders of Sioux Center; Gertrude, Mrs. Edwin Vis of Hull, and Edna, Mrs. Norman Vander Broek of Maurice; four brothers, Neal of Edgerton, John of California, Herman of Orange City and William of Sioux Center; three sisters, Lena, Mrs. Chris Schiebout of Sioux Center, Jennie, Mrs. Herman Schiebout of Maurice, and Gertrude, Mrs. Arthur Nelson of Omaha; and 40 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, three brothers, Garret, Henry and Benjamin, and one sister, Winnie.
Pall bearers were Albert De Weerd, Richard H. Kroon, William De Weerd, Ben Fedders, Edwin Vis, Norman Vander Broek.
The De Groot home here is located at 43 Sixth Street Northeast.
