Daughter of Philip KABEL (1879-1966) and Alice REYNARD (1884-1946).
Winchester High School, Class of 1921. Bachelor's degree from Earlham College. Master's degree from Indiana University. She began her teaching career in 1925 as an English teacher at McKinley High School, in Randolph County, Indiana.
By 1936, she was teaching English at Mishawaka High School, in Mishawaka, Indiana. She retired from Mishawaka High School in 1969.
While at Mishawaka High School, she was the faculty leader of the student Red Cross volunteers. In her private life, unknown to most, she would anonomously provide new winter coats to some of the neediest among Mishawaka girls. She often was made fun of; she never defended herself, and she developed her own sense of humor -- which seldom was understood.
She was a Quaker, accepted to membership of the Society of Friends (Quaker) on April 6, 1927 (Winchester Monthly Meeting of Friends).
