LaVonne Henschel peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday afternoon, August 10, 2011, surrounded by her entire family.

She was born June 17, 1934 and raised in St. Anna, WI.

She married her high school sweetheart, DuWayne, on August 31, 1954 in St. Augustine, FL. They made their home and raised their two daughters in Kiel, WI.

LaVonne was a godly woman of great humility. Her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved to cook for. She was known for her mashed potatoes, lemon poppyseed bread and soups. She had a big heart for animals especially the sweet dog she loved, Goldy. The simple pleasures that brought her contentment were reading, crocheting, gardening, creating a warm and welcoming home and most of all taking care of her DuWayne.

She was greeted in heaven by her parents Leona and Gilbert Puetz, sister and brother- in- law Delores and Eugene Blonigen, aunt and uncle, Rose and Elmer Thielman, sister- in- law, Grace Henschel and her mother and father-in- law, Eva and Ed Henschel.

She is survived by her one and only loving husband of 56 years, DuWayne, her daughter and son-in- law Debbie and Dave Knapp and granddaughter Lindsay from Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter and son- in- law Paulette and Phil Biwan from Appleton, and grandchildren Tyler and Ashley from Minneapolis, Minnesota, brothers-in-law, DeLyle (Ann) Henschel, Floyd (Gail) Henschel, other relatives and friends.

Her family lovingly thanks her lifelong friends whom she treasured like no other, Bernice Reineck, Mary Ann "Blondie" Ramaker and Catherine "Molly" Meyer.

Special thanks to the amazing staff and caregivers at the Renaissance Assisted Living of Appleton, Tammy Fox of Asera Hospice Care, Green Bay; Dr. Johnson, West Allis; Dr. Kumar, Sheboygan and Dr. Deubler, Kiel for their help and expertise.

The funeral Mass for LaVonne will be celebrated at 1:30 pm Saturday, August 13, 2011 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 413 Fremont St., Kiel with Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. & Joe Zenk, Parish Director officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel City Cemetery.
