John Davidson was born in Clarke County, Ohio, the son of Abednego and Margaret McCandless Davidson. His siblings : Sarah Davidson ( Mrs. Cornelius Arbogast), Ephraim, Joseph, Isaac, and Daniel Davidson. On 11 Jan, 1827, he married Nancy Gilbert, in Ohio, and in 1835, moved to Bloomfield, LaGrange, Indiana, where he was a pioneer citizen and landowner. In 1854, John Davidson moved his family to McDonough County, Illinois, where he lived until his death, 2 Aug 1872.
