Willard Averell (Jim) Ellison, 103, went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2010. He was born on October 13, 1906, in Parkersburg, Wood Co., WV, to John W. and Minnie (Poole) Ellison. Willard resided in the Akron area for the past 86 years. He worked at several rubber shops in the area, retiring from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., in 1970 after 39 years of service.
Willard was quite a remarkable man, who was proud to have lived by himself until two weeks prior to his passing. He had a valid driver's license until the age of 100. He loved the Lord and was a long standing member of The Akron Baptist Temple. Until he started to lose his eyesight, he enjoyed reading his Bible and watching Gaither Videos. Willard's memory was infallible and his stories of long ago will be sadly missed.
The funeral was January 27, 2010 at Bacher Funeral Home with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Rev. James Ellison officiated.
