Nathan was born on April 30, 1924, in Manitowoc Rapids, to the late John and Weida Otto Nass. He briefly worked at the Manitowoc Shipyards, and then went on to take over the family farm until his retirement. On Oct. 8, 1960, Nathan married Gloria Liermann at First German Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. Gloria preceded Nathan in death on Dec. 30, 1996. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, and served as the church's usher and treasurer.
Survivors include Nathan's nieces and nephews: Paul(Bonnie) Liermann, Wayne (LeeAnn) Liermann, Julie (Joseph) Holschbach, Dawn Reichwaldt, Lance (Janelle) Liermann, Tanya(Trevor) Liermann, William Liermann, Paula Liermann, Lisa Liermann, Douglas Liermann, Sylvia(Rev. Eugene) Kock, Leona Hauer, David Nass, and Paul (Liz) Nass; a brother-in-law: Lloyd(Leatrice) Liermann; a sister-in-law: Louise Liermann; also other relatives and friends. Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Gloria; and one brother: Leonard.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1033 S. 8th St., Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. until the beginning of the funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Rosenow will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to First German Ev. Lutheran Church or Laurel Grove Assisted Living.
