He is the son of Albert Vernon & Charlotte Lovina Denman Calkins. He died at the age of 73. He married Ethel May Wheeler on 15 May 1927 at Hillsdale, Mich. He was a machinist for many years, later going into the house painting business for himself. He moved from Mich to Redwood City 26 years prior to his death. They lived in Menlo Park, Calif. They are the parents of Ralph, William, Jack, Ellen, Bonnie, Kenneth, Robert & Vernon.
