Ione L. Nagel, nee Kasbaum, age 82, of West Bend, died Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

She was born on July 6, 1922 in Valders, to the late Robert and Amanda (nee Nass) Kasbaum. She graduated from Valders High School and attended one year of business college in Manitowoc. In the 1940s, she worked as a secretary at Manitowoc Ship Building. She married Alfred Schreiber on Jan. 30, 1943. Alfred was killed in World War II on the U.S. Bunker Hill on May 11, 1945. She then married Walter Nagel on Sept. 2, 1947. Walter preceded her in death on July 8, 1969. Ione returned to school and earned an associate degree from Lakeshore Technical
Institute (LTI) in 1972. She then worked as a secretary at Hamann Construction in Manitowoc until retiring and moving to West Bend in 1980. She had been a resident of the Cedar Ridge Retirement Community in West Bend since 1986. Ione was formerly an active member of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Manitowoc when she served on the consistory. She was currently a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend where she was a member of the choir for many years. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and she also loved music.

She is survived by four children: Robert (Julie) Nagel of Baraboo; Jean (Doug) Stewart of West Bend; Richard(Judith) Nagel of Neenah; and Judith (Edwin) Muelling of West Bend;
11 grandchildren: Holly (David) Mowell, Heather Nagel, Lindsey Nagel, Jeffrey Stewart, Elizabeth Stewart, Juliet Nagel, Jennifer (Brad) Smith, Jessica Nagel, Jaime Nagel,
Michael Muelling and Matthew Muelling; a brother: Felix (Jackie) Kasbaum of Madison; a very special friend: Judie(Dave) Lewis of West Bend; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister: Evelyn Nass; and three brothers: Leon Kasbaum, Rueben Kasbaum and Orin Kasbaum.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28 at 5 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, West Bend. The Rev. James Eckblad will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Manitowoc, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Immanuel United Church of Christ are
appreciated.
