Funeral of the Late Arthur Pulliam

Hundreds of friends assembled at the Presbyterian church this afternoon to pay their tribute of respect to the memory of Arthur Pulliam and extend their quota of sympathy to the heart broken parents and sisters. In the vast congregation were scores of high school boys and girls, county officers, members of the Bar association and hosts of friends in all walks of life. During the service the county court house offices were closed and the flag over the city hall placed at half mast. The beautiful white casket was banked and covered with magnificent floral offerings, each attesting to the esteem in which this very promising young boy held. The casket bearers were Lee Ayers, Frank Nelson, Mark Nelson, J. Rogers, Lee Obendorfer and Richard Macomb. The service was conducted by Rev. W. N. Courtice. The obituary notice stated the deceased was born in Rico in 1896 where the first nine years of his life were spent. When the family moved to Durango Arthur entered the public schools, where he graduated with honors two years ago. This was his second year in the state university. After finishing last year's work he attended the U.S. military school at the Presidio at San Francisco. his plans were to complete a law course in the university and enter his father's office. He was an excellent student-one of the most diligent workers in the university. His life and his accomplishments were all that fond parents could hope. Only those who have suffered a like bereavement can fathom the depth of sorrow that is weighing down the hearts of his family today. The thoughts of all our people go out in sympathy to them in these, the darkest hours of their lives.
