Pfc. Rueben J. Lopez, 27, of Williams, Calif., died Aug. 11 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y. Survivors include his mother: Gloria Estrada of Williams; Sisters: Letti & Ian Caldwell of Eugene, OR, Monica & James Palmer and Renee & Matt Silva of Roseville, CA, and SGT Raquel "Kelly" Lopez of Fort Lewis, WA. Nieces & Nephews: Olivia Caldwell, Madison & Ethan Silva and Jesse & Ella Palmer. Father: Reuben Lopez of Williams, Grandparents; Alex & Rita Estrada of Colusa and Margaret DelRio of Williams.
