Mrs. Douglas and her husband and three of their five sons, Donald, David, and Joseph, had left for Point Arena, Calif. last week to visit another son, Lt. Phillip Douglas, who is in the U.S. Air Force. Another son, Max, had remained in Muncie.
According to information received by relatives here, Douglas was driving on a California highway from San Francisco to Los Angeles when Mrs. Douglas suddenly collapsed. She was dead by the time she was taken to a doctor. Mrs. Douglas was born in Findlay, Ohio, and moved to Muncie following her marriage, May 2, 1935. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, and the Mother-Sisters' Guild of St. Lawrence.
Surviving besides the husband and five sons, are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Wendell; two sisters, Mrs. Steve Irmin and Mrs. Anthony Peterman; and a brother, Leo Wendell.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Felix Seroczynski officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Meeks Mortuary after 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rosary will be recited at the mortuary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday by members of the Mothers and Sisters Guild of St. Lawrence Church.
