Arlene (Cragle) Knouse Wolfe, 95, of Wapwallopen passed away at Berwick Retirement Village II on January 11, 2021. She was born on April 30, 1925 at home in Slocum, the daughter of the late George and Florence (Driesbaugh) Cragle.

She worked at the former AC&F in Berwick as a riveter during World War II, at the former Milco in Berwick and the former RCA in Mountain Top, and retired from the former Lady Ester in Berwick in 1990 where she worked for many years.

In 1945 Arlene married Theron (Ted) Knouse Sr. upon his return from the Army. Together they raised two children. They were happily married until Ted passed away from a massive heart attack in 1978 ending their 32 years of marriage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theron (Ted) Knouse; her brothers, Franklin Cragle and George Cragle, both of Slocum; and 2 sisters, Elizabeth (Cragle) Shemonis of Pond Hill and Viola (Cragle) Balliot of Slocum. Arlene's mother Florence died giving birth to a baby girl (Viola's twin), leaving her husband to raise six children on his own in the early 1920's.

Surviving are her sister June (Cragle) Kreidler, Wilkes-Barre; son Theron (Terry) and wife Shirley, Wapwallopen and their children, Theron III and wife Genia and their 3 children, Montpilier, VA, and Kandis (Knouse) Scaramastro and husband Joe, Phoenix, AZ and their 6 children; son David Knouse of Shirley, NY and his children, Christian and wife Brooke and their child, and daughter Nichol Tone and husband Mat of Shirley NY and their 5 children. Arlene was so proud of her 15 great grandchildren; ranging from oldest to youngest are Victoria, Isabella, Nathan, Alexander, Tatiana, Vladimir (whom she called Vova, his Russian nickname), Sergei, Benjamin, Madison, Hanna, Sophia, Cindy, Jasmine, Jackson, and Gabriella.

Arlene was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Wapwallopen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed helping with church dinners, playing Bingo, going to casinos, and playing cards. She had fond memories of growing up in Slocum and going to dances at the Log Cabin on Ruckle Hill Road where she met her future husband Ted.

Arlene wished to be cremated and her ashes buried next to her husband Ted at the Old River Church Cemetery in Wapwallopen. Due to the COVID restrictions and the weather, the family will have a service this spring at the Old River Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbia Montour Boy Scout Council, 5 Audubon Court, Bloomsburg, PA 17815, or to St. John's United Church of Christ, c/o Lorri Brandau, 31 Smith Mountain Road, Wapwallopen, PA 18660.
