Her father was Judge John Adams Cameron (1788-1838). Her mother was the widow Catherine McQueen Halliday.

She was the first wife of Judge William Marcus Shipp (1819-1890) with whom she had the following children who reached adulthood: Catherine "Kate" Cameron Shipp (Educator), Bartlett Shipp (Lawyer), Anna Shipp McBee (Educator) and Lt. William Ewen Shipp (Military Officer).
