Jasper Boon Oakley was born in November 1867 in what was Sevier County, AR (today it would be in Howard County, AR) to Francis Marion Oakley and Harriet N. (Suddarth) Oakley. He was married twice. First to Alma M. Coleman on April 9, 1889 in Howard County, AR. They had one son, Joseph Euin Oakley born on May 18, 1891 in Mineral Springs, Howard County, AR. Alma died on 18 June 1892 in Howard County, AR. Jasper later married Ida Jane McCasland on January 28, 1894 in Columbia County, AR. Jasper and Ida had eight children, but one died as a small child. Their children were James Albert, Mary Eva, Omah, Andrew Jefferson, Lita Truman, Noble Wesley, and Ruby Wickline (later changed to Betty). The family lived south of Stamps, Lafayette County, AR until very early in 1908. Both Jasper and Ida were suffering from tuberculosis. They sold their farm and travelled to Texas. Jasper died in Blanco, TX. The location of his grave is unknown. Ida moved her family to Austin, TX where she died a year and a half later. Her grave in Oakwood cemetery was unmarked. After researching cemetery records and finding a family letter describing which space she was buried in, a marker was erected in memory of both Ida and Jasper in 2004.
