Lucie was born January 11, 1931 in New Orleans, LA, and moved to San Antonio at a young age. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1947. On July 9, 1949 she married Clyde K. Peek, and together they raised four children. Clyde preceded her in death in 1984.
When her children were growing up, Lucie was involved in the St. Paul's Catholic Church PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Little League, as well as being an avid Bridge player. She and Clyde were active in the North Central Lions and Lioness Clubs. Later, they enjoyed camping and bowling, and were active in MacArthur Park Lutheran Church. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years.
Lucie was an animal lover. Her favorite pastime for many years was watching the many varieties of colorful birds that flocked to her backyard feeders.
Lucie is survived by her four children: Lucie Sides, of Bandera; Les Peek and wife Cindy, of San Antonio; Kathy Peek, of San Antonio; Bobby Peek and wife Cindy, of Bulverde. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Shaylyn, Stacy, Micah, Leslie Anne, Clay, Cara, Cassidy, and Jude; by three great-grandchildren: Christopher, Stephanie and Michele; and her furry constant companion, Barney.
The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice for their compassion, guidance and tender care during Lucie's illness.
Service will be Tuesday, August 16, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring North Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Defense League, San Antonio, TX.
