Richard Dyer is not the correct name on the tombstone in Walnut Hill Cemetery. His correct name was Merida Asbury Dyer, son of Samuel Harry Dyer and Mary Catherine Burks. Merida was my great grandfather. His nickname was "Dick" all his life and Mr Poindexter, the funeral home director in Odon, IN put Richard on the tombstone because he didn't know his real name. My father was at the funeral when his uncle, Henry Ellis Dyer, argued with Mr Poindexter about putting the correct name on the death certificate. He got that accomplished, but Mr. Poindexter would not change the stone. My grandmother, Nellie Dyer Williams, daughter of Merida Dyer, lived with us until she was 95 years old, when she died in 1989 and she confirmed this error to me. Please put a notation on this listing that the name is in error and it should have read Merida Asbury Dyer. Thank you. Bill Williams
