OLLIE BOYD
MOUNT VERNON -- Ollie B. Boyd, 85, of 401 E. Hamtramck st. died Saturday morning in Knox Community Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Boyd was born March 26, 1901 in Swords Creek, Va., to Absolom and Cynthia (Ball) Hurt. She had been a Mount Vernon resident for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Healing Hill Cathedral at Delaware, Ohio. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Litt of Butler and Mrs. Clara Jackson of Mount Vernon; four step-children, Mrs. Lucy Perkins of Marion, Va., Mrs. Lula Hale and Luther Boyd, both of Honaker, Va., and Mrs. Nora Perkins of Barley, W. Va.; one sister, Mrs. Dulcie West in Michigan; and one brother, Orville Hurt in Maryland; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, May 1, 1944. Also deceased are one son, Charlie; four sisters, Mrs. Nora Hughey, Mrs. Flossie Gideon, Mrs. Carrie Meadows and Mrs. Fonnie Goodman; one brother, Charlie Hurt; eight step-children, Hassell, Ed, John, Claude, and Carrie Boyd, Mrs. Ethel Brumbaker, Mrs. Minnie Cole and Mrs. Grace Harris. Calling hours were Monday evening at the Dowds-Wiggins Funeral Home. The funeral is 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. William O'Hara and Pastor Leroy Allen officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
