The Gadsden Times: " 8 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Bryant was one of two girls who drowned in the Coosa River near Gilbert's Ferry. Virginia was also survived by one sister, Martha Kay, brothers, Charles and Billie Bryant and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bryant. Funeral at Pilgrims Rest. The second girl who drowned was Miss Josephine Brogdon, age 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brogdon. Funeral at the Southside residence and burial in Old Harmony Cemetery. Josephine Brogdon was survived by her parents and one sister."
[Thomas and Pauline Battles Bryant were parents. Fred and Ada Belle Bryant and James and Lillian Battles were grandparents.]
