Dr. John E. Elliott, of Kennesaw, GA passed away at home August 1, 2010 following a sixteen month battle with cancer. Services were held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Chaplain Don Kriner officiating. Interment followed in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dr. Elliott was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Jack Elliott and Dorothy Eide. He is survived by his wife of almost thirteen years Mary Elliott and eight year old son Cole Jacob Elliott, step son Brent Hoffman, step daughters Rachel Hoffman, sister Judy Wells, brother-in-law Dante Wells, and a host of other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. He then went on to Medical School at the University of Cincinnati. After obtaining his medical degree he attended Duke University for his residency where he specialized in Anesthesiology. John began his practice at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in 1989 and continued for eighteen years. He served on the board as Chief of Anesthesiology for seven years and was instrumental in opening and managing the new Surgical Center at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital which opened in 2002. John's passions were hunting, gardening and traveling with his family.
