Rev. Donald K. Smith, 65, Rambling Creek, Jamestown, KY, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.
He was born Wednesday, September 26, 1945, in Russell Co., KY. He was the son of the late Okra Dockery Smith and the late A.G. Smith.
Rev. Smith was a Separate Baptist minister and a farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason and member of Russell Lodge No. 284. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He professed faith in Christ at an early age. He was an ordained Baptist Minister and pastored nine different churches. He sang with the Rock of Ages Quartet. He enjoyed serving the Lord, playing with his grandchild and was a devoted and loving husband.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Sue Ford Smith, Jamestown, KY, and the following:
One son: Donald Wayne Smith, Jamestown, KY
Three grandchildren:; Matthew Smith, Chelsea Smith, and Jacob Smith.
Two sisters, Lela Hix, Princeton, KY; and Paula (Dean) Johnson, Russell Springs, KY
One brother; Jeffrey Smith, Russell Springs, KY
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Sue Smith; a brother, Avery G. Smith, and a sister, Orvella Brown.
Pallbearers: Barry Hix, Lance Johnson, Waylon Wright, Wayne Smith, Jacob Smith, and Matthew Smith.
The funeral services will be at 10amCT, Tuesday, August 16, at Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church, with Bro. David Coffey, Bro. Bobby Conner, and Bro. Randy Brown officiating. The Blakey's will deliver the special music.
Burial will be in the Phelps Cemetery, Russell Springs, KY. Visitation is after 5pmCT, Monday, August 15, 2011, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russsell Springs, KY.
