Anton Knuth, 81, passed away at 3:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home in Ponemah. The Knuth family home has been here for 47 years.

Anton Knuth was born December 16, 1868 at Stargard, Germany, and was the son of Johann and Julianna Linda Knuth. His father died when he was a small boy, and he learned the art of cabinet making and carpentry at an early age. Mr. Knuth came to America, arriving here on April 22, 1895, and settled at Wilburn, Illinois. He became a naturalized citizen in 1911.

He was married to Miss Christina Wahl on June 19, 1902, at Metamora and they came to Warren County in 1913. Mr. Knuth worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for many years as a section foreman, but retired on August 5, 1937. The early part of this year he suffered a stroke and since that time had been under the care of a doctor.

Survivors include the following children: Mrs. Alma Johnson, Monmouth; Conrad A. Knuth, Ponemah; John J. Knuth, Ormonde; Mrs. Anselma Chick, Ponemah; Mark Knuth, Dallas City; and Francis V. Knuth, Galesburg; as well as 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 1946 and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9 am Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church, where Mr. Knuth was a member. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Trumbull Funeral Home, where friends may call. The Rosary will be recited there at 8 o'clock tonight.

Funeral services for Anton Knuth were held at 9 o'clock yesterday morning at the Immaculate Conceptio Church. Serving at pallbearers were: A. M. Boylen, Francis Tierney, Franl Hennefent, Robert O'Brien, Clyde Lawson, Jr., and William Bradbury.
