John H. McCord, son of Gilbert T. McCord and Emeline (Bridges) McCord, was listed as born 16th of November on at least two records, including his death certificate. His year and place of birth vary on many documents.

I have concluded that his birthdate is 16 Nov. based on that given on his death record, but chose 1846 as his birthyear, based on the majority of census records, especially the 1850, which lists him age 5, on the 26th of July. That would make him b. 1846 on 16th of Nov. same yr.

His 1st marriage lists his age as 23 in 1869, born in Ohio [approx. birthyear 1846]. His 2nd marriage lists his age as 52 in 1902, born in W. Virginia [approx birthyear 1850].

Death record lists his age as 88 yrs, 2 mo, 10 days, in 1929, born in N.Y. on Nov 16 1840. Informant's name appears to be Chas. Gates on Ionia. (not a relative to my knowledge, possibly works at the Home)
wife: Jeramima McCord.

John McCord died of "L-H_____ Cerebral Hemorage."
Buried at Easton Cemetery, undertaker: Allen E. Stett___ [Stethens/ Stether?]

1870 Easton, Ionia, MI, John McCord, age 19, b. PA, is living with the Joseph Norris family. [approx birthyear 1851]. (John's brother, Joseph McCord, eventually marries the daughter of Joseph Norris).

1880 Pennfield, Calhoun, MI, has John McCord, age 34, b. VA, parents b. VA, living with wife Jemima.

1900 Cascade, Kent, MI, John McCord b. Nov 1850, age 49, b. OH, parents b. NY, married 20 yrs. (but no wife living with him.)

[All of the above is in my notes and upon reading are making me dizzy. I'll need to look it over later for corrections. Math is not my strong point :) ]

John divorces his wife, Jemima Kline, and marries Fannie Duffey in 1902 in McCords, Cascade Twp., Kent, MI.

McCords and "McCords Station" were named after John McCord when the railroad came through and required part of his property for it's use.

His marriage to Fannie Duffey must not have lasted long because his first wife is the informant at his death and listed as wife.

John had no children of his own but he and his wife cared for his young niece, Nettie, daughter of Joseph McCord, at McCord Station after the death of her mother, according to my grandmother, Mildred (Colwell) Moore.
