Helen was born in Connecticut, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jensen, and attended Syracuse University. She married Peter Smith, and they had a son, Nels, and a daughter, Connie. They lived in Wyoming, but when their marriage ended, she moved back with her parents in Greewich, Connecticut. Because her husband was a very powerful man, her daughter lived with him in Wyoming. In 1952, their daughter, Connie, was sent to summer camp at Camp Sloane, a YMCA camp in Salisbury, Connecticut. When the girl had been there for two weeks, Helen and her parents made the drive from Greenwich to celebrate Connie's 10th birthday. It was the last time Helen would see her little girl, as she disappeared from the camp and was never found. Foul play was suspected, but over the years the case went cold. Helen passed away from an apparent heart attack at her ranch home in Sundance, Wyoming. Besides her former husband, she leaves her son, Nels J. Smith of Sundance, Wy.; her mother, Mrs. Chris Jensen, and a sister, Ruth Jensen, both of Greenwich, Conn.
