U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Geneva College, in 1895, from Harvard Law School in 1898, was admitted to the bar in 1899 and commenced to practice law in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a member of the board of aldermen of Cambridge, (1908-09) and a member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives, (1902-05). In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 73.
