U.S. Congressman. He attended Massachusetts State University and became successful in mercantile pursuits. He served as a member of the Democratic State committee, (1896-1903), was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions, (1900, 04), was president of the Brockton Board of Aldermen, (1901-06) and a member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives, (1907-08). In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. After his term, he was Postmaster of Brockton Massachusetts, (1915-23) and Brockton City Assessor, from 1923, until his death at age 57.
