John W. Tinney was my grandfather's uncle. Grandpa told me stories of having worked for his Uncle John when he was a teenager.

Longview, Texas resident John Tinney, 99, died Monday, July 8, 1991.
Funeral services were held July 10 at Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Longview with the Revs. Jack Cox and Larry Crider officiating.
Born July 27, 1891 near Russelville, Arkansas, Mr. Tinney grew up at Gans. He served in the U.S. Medical Corps in World War I. In 1929 he was married to Allene McDaniel of Wilton, Arkansas.
After living in Shreveport, Louisiana for a short while, the couple moved to Longview in 1930.
Mr. Tinney was a general foreman with L.E. Meyers for more than 50 years, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a member of the American Legion.
He was survived by his wife, Allene of the home; son and daughter-in-law John and Jeanette Tinney of Panama City, Florida; daughter and son-in-law Pat and Jack Dancer of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren Dustin and Brooke Tinney of Panama City, Dee McMann of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and John and Dusty Dancer of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews including Frances Tinney Baskin of Sallisaw and Ruby Armstrong of Gans.
