Andrew Jackson Akins, of Snohomish, WA, passed into the loving arms of Jesus June 9, 2010.

Andy was born in Lead Hill, Arkansas October 11, 1929 to Floyd Granville and Effie Lee (Luellen) Akins.

Andy is a retired Master Chief Petty Officer who served 24 years in the Navy and served in Vietnam and Korea. His assignments included the USS Jason, the USS Coral Sea, and the USS Enterprise.

He is survived by his wife, Irma; his sons, Mark (Claudia) and Scott; daughters, Delia (Don) Schumacher, Marlesia Moesch, DeAndra Akins, Crystal Francois; step daughters, Mary (Joe) Bloss and Kris (Bruce) Heiberg; grandchildren, Gianluke and Kate Akins, Nolan and Grant Waggoner, Hunter Schumacher, Carmel and Cameron Moesch, Danielle Akins, Melissa (Martin) Ruiz, Nicolas Urtado, Jeremy and Jason Meloche, Chad and David Davidson, Joshua (Jenn) Kevan, Jonathan Kevan, Jessi, Jimmy and Joe Heiberg; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, E.G. (Frances) Akins, Floyd (Irene) Akins, Alta (Dick) Lynch and Nettie (George) Brown.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers, Otto, W.O. and Arlis Akins.

Memorial services to be held Thurs, June 17, 2010, at Hope Foursquare Church, 5002 Bickford Avenue. Viewing 10:30 a.m. until Celebration service at 11am. Private family burial service at GAR Cemetery Snohomish, WA.
