At the residence of her aunt, Miss Ruth Hammond, on Wednesday, May 13, 1914, Mrs. Mary Hammond Northrop entered into eternal life.
Mrs. Northrop was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of Daniel Stanton and Sophia A. Hammond.
She was educated at the Academy here, Adelphi Academy in Brooklyn, finishing at Smith College in 1882. Her fine mind and literary tastes have always been among her attractions.
She was a member of the Clinton Avenue Congregational Church of Brooklyn.
In 1887 she was married to Charles H. Northrop of Newton, Conn., whom she survived six years.
The funeral took place at her aunt's home on Friday, May 15, the service being impressively conducted by the Rev. F. M. Mitchell; burial was in Elm Grove.
Mrs. Northrop is survived by a daughter, who is a high school teacher in Pennsylvania, and a son, who is in business in New York, where the family make their home, also their aunt's two sisters and a brother.
The children left so early without their parents have the deepest sympathy of their many friends.
