Helen Sherman

VENETA — A graveside service will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 22, at the Walton Cemetery for Helen Alberta Sherman of Veneta, who died Aug. 17 of age-related causes. She was 99. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.

She was born March 22, 1912, in Ohio to James and Ella Clinfelter Wilhelm. She married Leo Sherman on Nov. 10, 1933, in Eugene. He died previously.

She attended Walton School. She worked as school cook at Walton and Noti schools and was a bakery worker.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou Sherman of Cottonwood, Ariz.; a sister, Ruth Relyea of Veneta; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Leonard James Sherman and Philip Dee Sherman, and a daughter, Marilyn Burt, died previously.
